Highlighting Cybersecurity Education at Kaunas

On November 21-22, 2024, the augMENTOR project was proudly represented at the Intermediality in Communication conference, held at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) in Kaunas, Lithuania. This international event covered a range of topics, including linguistics, discourse, media, communication, translation, cultural literacy, and their impact on society, providing an excellent platform for sharing insights and innovations in educational technology.

The presentation, titled “Comparing Learning Platforms for Cybersecurity Education: Learners’ Engagement Insights from Moodle and TryHackMe,” was delivered by Rasa Kasperienė and Vilma Sukackė, both from KTU. The session focused on one of the key outcomes of the augMENTOR project: the development of a learner-centered, self-regulated online course on cybersecurity and ethical hacking.

During the presentation, Kasperienė and Sukackė shared findings from the pre-pilot phase, where learning analytics were gathered from two different platforms—Moodle and TryHackMe. They explored how learners engaged with each platform, highlighting learning pathways, interaction patterns, and challenges faced by both course developers and learners. Based on these insights, they offered recommendations for educators seeking to create engaging and effective online courses. The session highlighted the importance of understanding learner engagement in online education and provided practical advice for educators looking to build online courses in the field of cybersecurity education.
