augMENTOR Workshop at Athens Science Festival 2023: Reshaping Education with AI

Athens, Greece – In a dynamic workshop that combined innovation, technology, and the delightful world of chocolates, educators from diverse backgrounds gathered at the Athens Science Festival 2023, on October 11 2023,  to explore the future of education.

The event was led by a team of experts from augMENTOR, including Eleutheria Tsourlidaki, Project Leader at UNI Systems, Dimitris Charalampakis, Project Manager of Novelcore, Andromachi Filippidi, Laboratory Teaching Staff Member from the University of Patras, and Μarianna Anagnostopoulou, a Psychologist and Project Manager at IASIS.

The workshop, named “Chocolates and Artificial Intelligence,” aimed to introduce educators to the incredible potential offered by the tools of Artificial Intelligence in the realm of education. It was an interactive and creative journey that promised to make the learning process more effective and enjoyable, all while using AI to align teaching with the unique requirements of each learner.

During the workshop, educators had the opportunity to delve into the requirements and challenges associated with redefining the learning process. They explored how AI can be a game-changer within the classroom, making education both effective and fun. The session provided insights into using an artificial intelligence toolkit to better monitor learners’ progress while allowing students to manage their learning plans independently, thus reshaping traditional roles within education. “Chocolates and Artificial Intelligence” was not just an insightful workshop; it was a call to action for educators and the general public.

The workshop was a part of a session titled “Education, Artificial Intelligence, and ChatGPT,” directed to educators. augMENTOR’s workshop presented amongst a workshop organized by the Athena Research Center and a panel discussion, “AI – The Real Challenges,” with Lilian Mitrou (Professor at the University of the Aegean), Christos Xenakis (Professor at the University of Piraeus), and Kostas Karpouzis (Assistant Professor at Panteion University). The discussion was moderated by journalist Giannis Rizopoulos.
